Andrea del Verrocchio: Leonardo da Vinci's Teacher: with Professor Thomas Germano

The first retrospective devoted to Verrocchio, debuted this summer at the Palazzo Strozzi in Firenze, Italy. The National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., will host the exhibition September 15,2019- January 12,2020. An important and pivotal artist of the Florentine Renaissance, Verrocchio was a painter, sculptor, designer, engineer and teacher who ran the most critical workshop in Florence, c 1460-1490. Verrocchio's celebrated masterpieces and principle works by the best known artists associated with his workshop included Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, Lorenzo di Credi and Leonardo da Vinci and are in the exhibit. This visual lecture will discuss Verrocchio's life, works and the exhibition.
