Description

This visual lecture will look at three Caravaggio attributions which made headlines in recent years. First an unseen Judith and Holofernes was found in 2014, by home owners in France while investigating a leak in their attic. In early 2021, Spain stopped an auction when Ecce Homo was believed to be by Caravaggio and not Jusepe Ribera as it was listed. The third was a villa in Rome went on the market in October 2021 with the artist’s only known ceiling mural.
