Max Beckmann: Artistic Transformation & Metamorphosis - with Professor Thomas Germano

There was a dramatic change in Max Beckmann’s work after his experiences driving an ambulanace for the German cause in WWI.  His exposure to the horrors of war led to a mental breakdown and his abandonment of creating ‘pretty pictures.’ This visual lecture will discuss his work before, during and after the war.
