New Children's Books
About Us
Our young patrons, from ages birth to sixth grade, can come to the Children's Room where there are books, magazines, Launchpads, audio books, music CDs, computers, iPads and video games. The computers provide access to the Internet as well as Microsoft Office programs, ebooks and online databases. Our iPads provide a variety of educational and book based apps. Children's reference librarians assist youngsters with all their informational and recreational needs.
We also have a designated tween area set up for children in grades five and six. With comfortable seating, board games, a selection of age appropriate books and their own computers and iPads they can find what they need Be "tween" fifth and sixth. For the younger children we have a "craft corner" where they are able to express their creativity with a selection of crayons, colored pencils, coloring sheets, stickers and colored paper.

Program Registration for Children
Program Registration: Jericho District Residents
Children ages birth to 4 years old: Parents or guardians must bring their Jericho Library card and proof of their child's age (birth certificate, birth announcement or passport) to the circulation desk. The child will be issued a yellow Preschool Program Registration card. This card can be used to register the child for programs online or with the Children's Room directly (in person or by phone). Once the child turns 5 years old they will be notified that they are now eligible for their first Jericho Library card. Click here for program registration.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAM REGISTRATION RULES Because many patrons register their children for programs and don't attend and/or cancel less than 48 hours in advance,it is preventing other children from attending. If you cancel less than 48 hours in advance and/or don't attend two (2) times, your child will be withdrawn from the next program for which they are registered. You will also not be able to sign your child up for the next newsletter's programs.
Getting Your First Library Card:
Children ages 5 and up are eligible to get their first library card. This card may be used for both program registration and checking out library items. Parents or guardians may sign up for a library card for their child at the Circulation Desk. Once the child receives the new library card, he/she will be given a gift the first three times the card is used to check out a book. Children's pictures will also be posted on our "New Card Holder" display board.
Out-of-District Grandchildren
Jericho district grandparents may bring their Jericho Library card and proof of their grandchild's age (birth certificate, birth announcement or passport) to the Children's Room. They will be able to register their grandchild in person or by phone.
Out-of-District Patrons
Non-residents may call the Children's Room and be registered the day of the program as space allows. Please provide proof of age for baby and preschool programs.
