Kathy Bates is a highly regarded American actress with a career that spans over five decades. She began with stage performances, becoming one of the finest character actresses of her generation. Her breakout performance in Misery at age 43 in 1990 made her a major film presence and won her the Academy Award. Bates is multi-talented and versatile, and continues to attract audiences, even at an age when she was considering retirement.
