Program Description

Description

This PowerPoint presentation explores the Revolutionary War career of Setauket native Benjamin Tallmadge—dragoon commander, intelligence officer, and leader of daring raids on British outposts. He fought in key battles and ran George Washington’s most active espionage network, the Culper Spy Ring, helping foil the Arnold–André plot to betray West Point. The program concludes with an overview of his postwar career as a businessman and Congressman.

Presented by historian Richard Welch, author of General Washington’s Commando: Benjamin Tallmadge in the Revolutionary War.
